The Landscape and Nature Competitions

Our club competitions last Monday delivered another excellent evening of photography, with members showcasing both technical skill and creative vision across the Landscape and Nature categories.

In the Landscape competition, the judges were treated to a wonderful range of scenery, atmosphere, and composition. Among the top scorers were Rob Grant’s haunting mist-filled woodland scene Fanal Forest, praised for its mood, depth, and dramatic use of light, alongside Danny Pearce’s richly coloured Autumn Falls, where vibrant seasonal tones beautifully framed the waterfall and stone bridge.

The Nature competition was equally impressive, highlighting patience, timing, and fieldcraft. Leading the scores was Danny Pearce’s Alert Cheetah with Raised Hackles, a striking portrait full of tension and character. Also among the top images were Sue North’s Ammophila sabulosa with Caterpillar Prey, a fascinating close-up capturing an extraordinary moment in the insect world, and Grey Heron Carrying Nest Material, another excellent Sue North image that impressed with its elegant in-flight composition and perfect timing.

Congratulations to all of our successful photographers, and thank you to everyone who entered and supported another enjoyable competition night. The standard of entries continues to rise, making each judging evening a real celebration of club talent.
