The Nature and Landscape competition

Last Monday was the competition for the lovers of birds, lizards and furry things coupled with those that like visiting places with vast vistas. Lots of fantastic entries in both categories. The only downside was that the judge didn’t want the Latin names read out which was an extreme disappointment for those members that take time to select creatures with unpronounceable names (e.g. just look up the species classification for Mallard).

Anyway here are the top three in the nature competition. As you can see the 6 legged fluttery creatures dominated!

‘Old World Swallowtail’ by Dave Cusselle came first

‘Common Damselfly’ by Mick Sadler came second

‘Green Veined White Butterfly’ by Ron Jarvis came third

And then came the landscapes….

Some of the members felt quite jealous that they hadn’t ventured much beyond south east London to get their images. Clearly a lot of members spend a small fortune on air fares!

‘Geothermal Landscape at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone’ by Pauline Pearce got a well deserved 1st place.

‘Fjord’s End, Andalsnes, Norway’ by Paul Adams achieved the second spot.

‘Buttermere’ by Julie Hawton got the third spot.
